If people in the media cannot decide whether they are in the business of reporting news or manufacturing propaganda, it is all the more important that the public understand that difference, and choose their news sources accordingly. -Thomas Sowell

News Media Sustainability was created for an upper-level undergraduate course in mass communications. Discussion and education on the issues that news media outlets face in today’s digital age is the focus of this blog. Maintaining traditional news reporting standards and ethics is of utmost importance while in the midst of the rapidly changing technological landscape. Protecting the fair marketplace of ideas is also of great importance. Navigating through the pressures and issues that have resulted as a by-product of the digital age is what this blog attempts to do in order to offer more clarity and awareness.
